Please join me in welcoming our next guest blogger, Cheryl Waters.

I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet and work with Cheryl over the years. It is my pleasure to share her with all of you. ~Sudie Alexander, Chief Fun Officer of Jump Create

My name is Cheryl Waters, and I reside in beautiful South Orange County, California. I am married for 17 years. We have one beautiful, fun-loving nine year old daughter who brightens my life. I have a very close knit family and the family unit both in genealogy and my church family, is very important to me. I love spending time with my family and I love the outdoors. I also enjoy doing charity work and attempting to give back to my community. I hope that as I cross paths with others that both will be blessed and lives enriched. I know that I am truly blessed!

I have had the blessing of being a lead and founding Fiskateer and began my journey in 2006. It has been an incredible journey and I’m excited to continue as a lead. I am so grateful to be a part of the Fiskars family

I work full time in law enforcement and enjoy working with the community. I have enjoyed watching my position as a Fiskateer crossover into my law enforcement position. Crafting is so much about life!

Prior to working in law enforcement, my husband and I (later came my daughter) lived overseas (primarily South Africa, Zambia and Madagascar) for six years as Christian missionaries. I learned so much about life, culture, community, forgiveness, blessing, giving, sacrifice, challenge and my faith grew in a huge way. It was a life-altering and growing experience.

Scrapbooking has always been a part of my life in one way or another. Besides teaching at several different venues as a Fiskateer in several different states, I am also a Creative Team Member at my local scrapbook store . . . Timeless Treasures. I enjoy teaching, scrapbooking, altered arts, fine art, and drawing. I enjoy thinking outside the box with my projects. My style of scrapbooking leans more towards Shabby Chic although I enjoy all styles of scrapping.

I was encouraged by friends to submit some of my work and have been published in Memory Makers Books as well as Somerset Home and Memories (formerly Legacy) on several occasions. I have had the blessing of working with this wonderful company and have written articles for Stampington and Company/Somerset.

Jump Create is so pleased to have with us Lisa Falduto. Lisa is not only a talented professional crafter, but also a fantastic mother. I was so interested to hear her perspective as a mom and former teacher. What she shares with us about the creative process is such valuable information.

Help me welcome, Lisa, to Jump Create.

All my life I have been surrounded by crafters! Everything from fabric, wood, and paper has been woven into my life, a heavy influence drawn from my parents while growing up. I’ve dabbled in candle making, counted cross-stitch, sewing, woodworking, knitting, crocheting, painting, etc. I’ve enjoyed each craft I have tried and have learned so many creative things along the way.

Paper has always fascinated me! As I child I shredded paper to make wonderful culinary dishes with my toy cookware. As a student in school I used paper to create many projects for homework assignments. As an adult I used paper to create bulletin boards, games, puzzles, displays, and so many other things in my preschool classroom.

About 15 years ago I discovered rubber stamping and began creating cards. But this time it was different, I was obsessed! I made a natural progression into scrapbooking and then to altered items, all now a daily part of my life. There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting down with a pile of paper, embellishments, stamps, and tools to create something memorable. Paper crafting is my passion!

I have been fortunate to take my paper crafting to a professional level by serving on several manufacturer design teams as well as getting to do a bit of traveling and teaching. I also do freelance work for several companies by designing trade show projects as well as designs for their websites.

When I am not elbow deep in paper and adhesive I love spending time with my husband and two daughters. I also love to bargain shop and garden.

I never enjoyed crafting as a child. This is not to say that I did not grow up in a crafty home. I clearly remember as a child watching Carol Duvall, Julia Child and the Galloping Gourmet on PBS.

I did not find out that I had an artistic gene until I was 40 years old raising a toddler and pregnant with twin boys.

I am a eco-conscious/green/environmentally friendly designer. I recycle, up-cycle, repurpose, reuse, reduce and pick through the trash. I will never be a fine artist. The tag line on my blog reads: “There are no mistakes in art, just opportunities to embellish.”

My, for me the devil is in the details. I am a left brained woman having extraordinary right brain experiences.

until we meet again,

Among her many accomplishments, Debby is Fiskateer of the Year, published designer, popular blogger, and frequent contributor to many crafting message boards. She generously shares her designs along with tips and techniques at her blog, Debby’s Dares where she dares you to be yourself.

This year she is running All About You in 52 year-long challenges. It is very popular with both paper and digital scrapbookers.

Recently she embarked on a brand new venture Debby’s Dream Studio. At Jump Create, we are most excited about the Mommy and Me Crafts division of Debby’s Dream Studio.

Mommy and Me Crafts bring you the unique opportunity for adults and children to work together to create unique projects. The Mommy and Me Crafts will allow both adults and children to create projects from the same products. Mommy and Me Crafts are created to make memories for children with their mother, father, grandparents, aunts, uncles or teachers. They are also designed to bring development opportunities for children within crafting and to develop fine motor skills, language, socialization, personal awareness, emotional well-being, creativity, problem solving and learning ability.

Debby can be found on Facebook . Sometimes, if I am lucky, she treats me to a visit and a cup of coffee.

It is my good fortune to call her, friend.

Thank you, Debby, for being our guest blogger! Your project is so cute and so much fun~
